Buy a serve

First you should have a serve, you can use like Bandwagon, Digitocean and other provider.

Install a system

Different providers have different ways to install a system, I recommend Ubuntu14.04(x64)

Setup a FTP service

Type these commands below in the terminal of your serve:

Install vsftpd

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get install vsftpd

Configure vsftpd

# paste Four commands in your terminal
$ mkdir /home/yourname
$ useradd -d /home/yourname -s /bin/bash yourname
$ passwd yourname
# enter the password twice
$ vim /etc/vsftpd.conf
# Hit the I in your keybord
# change the items like below:
anonymous_enable=NO
local_enable=YES
write_enable=YES
chroot_local_user=YES
# paste the items below as the end of the file
ssl_enable=YES
allow_anon_ssl=NO
force_local_data_ssl=YES
force_local_logins_ssl=YES
ssl_tlsv1=YES
ssl_sslv2=NO
ssl_sslv3=NO
require_ssl_reuse=NO
ssl_ciphers=HIGH
# If you can't establish the connections at last, add:
listen_port =990
# Type :wq and hit the Enter to save the file
# Type the command:
$ service vsftpd restart

Configure the User’s Home Directory

$ chmod a-w /home/yourname/
$ mkdir /home/yourname/files
$ chown yourname:yourname /home/yourname/files/

Install a FTP Client

Install a FTP Client in your own computer, recommend the FileZilla Open FileZilla Go to File>site manger>General Fill your Host, User(yourname), Password in Choose the FTP-File Transfer Protocal in Protocol Select the explicit FTP over TLS in Encryption select the Normal in logon Type Then hit the Connect
